by Max Vincent (Max&Intro) and Max and Intro
€25.00
On the occasion of the celebration of the tenth anniversary of our work, in cooperation with PGP-RTS, we prepared a quite special edition: Max And Intro-Return To The Future 1984-1994 LP collects 12 tracks of this legendary Belgrade synth-pop group on high-quality 180-gram vinyl, remastered from the original master tapes with a handful of extras: the record comes with a rare interview from 1985, a lyrics sheet, and phenomenal unreleased photos by Goran Basarić and Max's Poster.
A side opens with 4 tracks that were recorded in late 1984 in studio Druga Maca for the group's debut 12" release on the PGP label. Unfortunately, 2 songs were cut off, and the label released just two tracks, Ostavi Sve and Beogradska Devojka, on We Design The Future 7" in 1985. On this release we put back these 2 tracks that were cut off : Da, Da, Tako Si Zla and Ona Je Ta in the same song order it was previously planned for the 12" release (You can check the full story in the rare interview from 1985, which comes as an addition to the record). Thanks to magnificent audio restoration by Aleksandar Grujić on the original studio master tape, we got the best quality of these studio sessions, including the best-ever versions of Ostavi Sve and Begradska Devojka. A side continuous with two previously unpublished tracks that were recorded live at Belgrade's Youth Center in 1985. These are the first-ever group's live recordings. In the first live track called Silvester, we can hear the first-ever usage of the Roland TR-909 rhythm machine in Yugoslavia. Max's voice is very unusual (like vocals in Katarina II), and he sings about his favorite pet—a gun called Silvester! Equally unusual is the next live track called Hej, Da Li Znaš? (eng. Hey, Do You Know?), a deep, intimate song about failed love that once shined but was ruined by fears and dishonesty. Here Max's voice resonates in a very low sound spectrum, making the very dark, almost Gothic atmosphere. The last track on the A side, called On Voli Je (eng. He Loves Her), is the climax of the group's early period. Recorded in 1986 on then-modern Casio CZ synthesizers, it shows all the magnificent talent of the group in composing, programming, sampling, and effects. With only 19, Max signs : Nedajući Se Svakom Pogledu, Živeći Od Njenih Osmeha (eng. Not giving in to every look, living from her smiles).
B side collected their works between 1991 and 1994. Here we can find heavy influence by Yello, but it is not a secret, there is no other person in the world who better understands Boris Blank's sensibility and who grounded it for its own artistic expression then Max. From witty Tobacco Road, mysterious Laredo, experimental Koto and essential Dopo La Morte, you will be driven by the most refined analog electronic sounds made with a lot of knowledge and feeling.
This compilation sheds new lights on the whole East European electronic scene. Unfairly forgotten, group Max And Intro deserved a significant place in the electronic scene in 80's Yugoslavia. We are proud that we had an opportunity to reveal this treasure to you and we hope you will enjoy it as much as we did.
