In collaboration with Tihomir Pop Asanovic and Croatia Records (Jugoton), Discom distribution presents you Majko Zemljo LP, an official reissue of original Jugoton 1974's LP album which is one of the most wanted jazz-funk groove records from the former Yugoslavia.

Asanovic was the leading jazz-funk musician and organ player in 70s Yugoslavia: he played in the most important Yugoslavian prog fusion group Time and he formed two jazz-funk supergroups: Jugoslovenska Pop Selekcija (Yugoslavian Pop Selection) and September. His debut solo album from 1974 called "Majko Zemljo" (eng. Mother Earth) was recorded with the most skillful jazz musicians in that time. From epic open title theme with pulsating rhythm beat built by a killer bassline, fast congas, heavy rock vocals and dramatic brass riffs to mad funk fusion breaks in songs Tema Za Pop (Theme For Pop), Rokenrol Dizajner (Rock-and-roll Designer), Berlin II, Latino vibes in song Telepatija (Telepathy) and R'n'B feeling in songs Balada O Liscu (The Ballad of Leaves) and Ostavi Trag (Leave a Trace), the whole album exudes a quality jazz funk groove jamming. Even the cover version of JB's Hot Pants Road in song Berlin I sounds funkier than the original! Besides excellent music which can stand proudly beside any Hancocks albums in the early 70s, those familiar with the Croatian language will find a beautiful, deep and reflexive poetry with a lot of existentialistic subjects and images. A true piece of art!

Played by various beat-diggers from all around the world including our favorite Red Light Records crew, Jeremy Underground and many others. this album remains one of the best rare groove records in Eastern Europe and inevitable address for those searching for quality jazz funk beyond mainstreams.

Remastered from original master tapes and under the supervision of Tihomir Pop Asanovic, it is made on 180-gram vinyl, luxury gatefold cover with two-sided insert and download card. From our standpoint one of the best ever Jugoton's releases!
